Having
a roof over one’s head should give you a sense of security, but
in the last two months, several roofs have collapsed for
“unknown reasons,” the most recent on February 7th
2006, at a
supermarket in the Bavarian town of
Toeging am Inn and this came only a month after the roof of
an ice-rink collapsed in
Bad Reichenhall, also in Southern Germany, in January.
One month before that, on December 5th
2005 the roof of the Dolphin Pool in the Urals region of
Russia caved in killing at least fourteen people swimming in
the pool. Again, on January 29th 2006 the collapsed
roof of an exhibition hall in southern
Poland killed sixty people. All of the above tragedies were
“thought” to have been caused by heavy snowfall.
But a five-storey hotel
in
Mecca collapsed on January 5th 2006 which killed
about twenty-three Muslims gathering in Islam's holiest city for
the hajj pilgrimage
and then a five-storey
building also collapsed in
Nairobi on Jan.23rd 2006, where snow could not
have been a factor.
On the previous day, a synagogue roof collapsed in
New York.
The recently repaired roof of a discotheque
collapsed in
Jakarta on Feb 6th 2006 and on January 6th 2006,
the roof of the Maximum Comfort Pool and Spa in
Frisco also gave way. Earlier, in 2004, the roof caved in at
Charles de Gaulle airport in
Paris. It was said that there was “absolutely nothing” in
the past to indicate a structural problem, but a firefighter
described it, “like a scene after an earthquake.”
Could this just be an incredible string of
coincidences, all occurring in a couple of months? Heavy
snowfall is not a new phenomenon and it does not usually cause
roofs to collapse at leisure facilities. There could be
something more sinister afoot, after all, it is eighty years
since Nikola Tesla claimed to have invented a
mechanical
oscillator
which
could bring down buildings with ease. If so, I have no idea of
the motive, other than for insurance or to cause mayhem, but as
a ‘conspiracy theorist’ it’s my job to be suspicious.
