Local
doc treated unfairly
Friday, June 4, 2004
Dear editor,
I was shocked to read the headline "County doctor accused of
exploiting patient" (May 13, 2004). The article referred to Dr.
Jeffrey Gray, a respected Napa
psychiatrist. Reading on, I noted that none of the charges had been
verified, yet the story was written as if it were an accomplished fact
and came from The National Enquirer.
As a nurse, former faculty member, and therapist, I have known Dr. Gray
for many years. Though my contact with him has been limited to clinical
issues, he always demonstrated the highest level of professionalism
understanding, and knowledge. I have provided counseling services for
many of the same patients as he and all have held him in high regard.
I realize that a newspaper prints what is news, not necessarily what is
proven fact. However, I hope that when the charges against this physician
have been dropped and his license has been reinstated, the Napa Valley
Register will publish an equally electrifying article seeking to restore
the reputation of a fellow professional.
